For assignment Interviews: This page shows you how to work with the Safe Exam Browser

For exams: This page is only important if you use your own device to write the exam (BYOD)! If you are enrolled for the “Lehrsaal”-group you will use devices provided by TU Graz.

You will need a WIFI connection during the exam or the assignment interviews; past experience showed that mobile hotspots usually do not work well - we suggest eduroam.

Install Safe Exam Browser

Please make sure that you have your (fully charged) notebook with you. In addition, you need to install the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) before the exam takes place. We opened a SEB test activity in the Exam-TeachCenter [1], where you can test the SEB login. The exam contains some questions from the previous exams for you to prepare and test if SEB is working correctly. Please also check if copying code from the Exam TeachCenter into onlineGDB (and back) works as expected. We do not have time for troubleshooting during the exam, so please ensure that everything is installed and tested before.

Important: After SEB opens, you must sign in (again). Unfortunately, SEB does not store your credentials (TUGrazOnline username and password). This means you have to know your credentials since you do not have access to your Browser-stored password (or password manager, etc.) Please also make sure that you have your second factor (mobile phone) with you for login!

Summary

Summarized, your next steps are:

  1. Download and Install the SEB browser
  2. Open the test exam, and you will see a button there to open the SEB (no need to download the configuration, just click on "Start Safe Exam Browser" and SEB will start).
  3. Log in if required, and you should see the test exam inside the SEB. Open the test exam. Click through it if you like.
  4. That's it. In addition, we highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with onlineGDB.
